Seoul, Mar.2 (ANI): US and South Korean officials will discuss North Korea's recently disclosed uranium enrichment programme.
The US adviser for non-proliferation and arms control department, Robert Einhorn, will meet Wi Sung-Lac, South Korea's chief envoy to the stalled six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear disarmament.inhorn with a team of US officials will continue discussion on a new civilian nuclear cooperation agreement between Seoul and Washington, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
A South Korean foreign ministry spokesman said: "During his visit here, North Korea's uranium enrichment programme and the issue of imposing sanctions against the North will also be discussed."
China, North Korea's main ally, last month blocked publication of a UN report criticising the uranium programme disclosed last November. It said that it could give Pyongyang a new way to build nuclear weapons, in addition to its plutonium-based programme.outh Korea wants the UN Security Council to address the uranium programme before attempts one made to revive the six-party talks.
It has described the enrichment as a new violation of UN sanctions imposed following atomic tests in 2006 and 2009. (ANI)
