Hindu Heritage and Divine Centre planned in Canada

Nevada, Mon, 28 Feb 2011 ANI

Nevada (US), Feb 28 (ANI): A Hindu Heritage and Divine Centre has reportedly been proposed for Guelph-Eramosa in Ontario (Canada).

When developed, it will be like a spiritual center and will include facilities for yoga, meditation, spiritual seminars besides being a meeting place for the community. This Centre, in over an acre, will be developed on a purchased site already posted for the development. This project will be formally launched in April, according to reports.

Non-profit religious-social organization, Hindu Society of Guelph, which is said to have existed for the last about 35 years, is behind this project. Plant Agriculture Professor Parveen K. Saxena of University of Guelph is the President. It presently meets at University of Guelph. Nearest Hindu temple currently is in Kitchener, about 25 miles away.

Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, applauded efforts of the Centre-project leaders and Guelph-Eramosa and surrounding area community to realize this wonderful idea of a Hindu center.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this new Hindu Centre would focus in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.

Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents.
