Toronto , Wed, 26 Jan 2011 ANI

Toronto, Jan 25 (ANI): The husband of Amanpreet Kaur Bahia, the Indian-origin woman who was killed in her Surrey home in BC, Canada, and two others have been charged with first-degree murder four years after her death.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced the charges during a news conference on Monday.

RCMP spokeswoman Corporal Annie Linteau, however, refused to comment on the motive, or cause of death, and simply said: "During the course of the investigation, Baljinder Singh Bahia was identified as a person of interest in his wife's murder."

Baljinder Singh Bahia, Tanpreet Kaur Athwal, and Eduard Viktorovitch Baranec were taken into custody last week, the Globe and Mail reports.

Bahia's body was discovered on February 7, 2007. Her family members had claimed that Bhatia's one-year-old child was found sitting in a pool of her mother's blood when the body was discovered.

Bahia's three daughters, who were 9, 3 and 1 when their mother's body was found, now reportedly live with their grandparents on their father's side. (ANI)
