India decided to extend the ongoing countywide Coronavirus lockdown for another 2 weeks from 4-17 May 2020, to contain the Covid-19 virus. According to the authorities the Aarogya Setu app must be installed by all the people in their smartphone residing in the containment zones. Government order said, "The local authority shall ensure 100% coverage of Aarogya Setu app among the residents of Containment Zones."
The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the extension of lockdown by two more weeks on Friday and said that its Aarogya Setu app must be used by all residents in containment zones.
It said, "The local authority shall ensure 100% coverage of Aarogya Setu app among the residents of Containment Zones."
The containment zones are divided into red, orange and the green by the state authorities, while the zones boundaries will be defined by the district administrators. If the area falls into the containment zones then it will the responsibility of the local authorities to ensure the 100% coverage of Aarogya Setu app.
The Arogya Setu app of Government of India is already recorded over eight crore downloads so far, making it one of the most downloaded apps in the country during a very short period. The Arogya Setu app is developed to help in tracking and containing the Covid-19 virus in the country. Similar applications were used in China during the outbreak.
The Arogya Setu app is also mandatory for the govt, private sector employees in the country.
This application is base on the uses of Bluetooth-based proximity tracking and location date to determine the Covid-19 exposure risks among the people of the country.
User can down the app and register it by providing the details like mobile number, and other personal details like name, age, gender etc. Once application is registered it will alert the user if they are in proximity of any Covid-19 patient or any other person who came in contact with Covid-19 person. So, this application is a personal defence application against Covid-19 for the people of country.
The Arogya Setu app also provides video instruction on steps of maintaining the social distancing and to stay safe during Covid-19 outbreak.
