With 74 news deaths in 24 hours the Coronavirus toll in India crosses 1000-mark and rises to 1,007 deaths so far. Total confirmed cases stands at 31,329 in India. India is under complete lockdown to stop the spread of Coronavirus.
The current lockdown is going to complete on May 3, but there is indication from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi that current lockdown might be extended. But still there is no official word on the extension of lockdown. Soon there will be announcement by Government.
According to the reports state health department, total Covid-19 cases in India rises to 31,329 while 1,007 people died due to complications caused by this virus. On Tuesday with 74 new deaths India recorded biggest single-day deaths. India is fighting its battel against Covid-19 and imposed countrywide lockdown to contain the virus. But officials fear that India could see peak in coming months.
On Tuesday India recorded 74 deaths while on Monday 54 fatalities was recorded. Tuesday 74 fatalities was the biggest single-day jump.
In India over 10,000 new cases are recorded in past 7 days, so it took just 7 days to go tally from 10,000 to 20,000. Biggest spike in cases are reported from Maharashtra and Gujarat even under strict lockdown.
In the Maharashtra and Gujarat the doubling rate are 8.3days and 8.8days respectively. The overall doubling rate in the country is 10.8 days.
“If you look at some of the countries where cases are high, you will see twenty countries with the combined population as of India’s have 84 times more coronavirus cases,” said Union health ministry joint secretary Lav Agarwal during coronavirus briefing.
The Covid-19 outbreak is very serious in the country’s financial capital Mumbai where over 6,000 cases have been reported. Maharashtra reported over 9,318 cases of Covid-19 infection in the country. From Dharavi 41 new cases of Covid-19 is reported.
In Gujarat over 226 new infections were recorded on Tuesday raising the total confirmed cases to 3,774.
Delhi reported total 3,314 cases of Covid-19 infection and over 100 containment zones have been identified in Delhi.
Globally the cases of Covid-19 are increasing fast and till now over 3.2 million people have been infected with the Covoid-19. Global deaths due to Covid-19 rise to over 213,000.
The United States reported over 57,000 fatalities, followed by Italy (27,000 deaths) and Spain (23,000 deaths).
The current outbreak of Covid-19 was first reported from the China’s Hubei province late last year and since then it spread to more than 185 countries of the world killing over 213,000 people worldwide.
