New Delhi, Tue, 03 Mar 2020 Arun Kumar

Oppo has announced the launch date for its new Smartwatch that looks similar to Apple Smartwatch. The Smartwatch to be launched in a few days from now and this product looks virtually identical to Apple’s smartwatch. This new watch, unsurprisingly called the Oppo Watch, will be officially launched on the 6th of May at the Oppo Find X2 event.  Full specification of this smartwatch will be release at the event.

What Does the Oppo Smartwatch Offer?

Company still not revealed detailed specification of the new Oppo Smartwatch. So, many details still about this smartwatch is still not available. However, the market is rife with speculation and a number of experts have made their educated guesses on the functionalities it will offer. As a start, experts speculate that the smartwatch will offer the ability to make and receive calls. Further, it may also offer one-button press call responses in case the wearer is unable to respond at the time.

The body of the Oppo Watch has a very similar design to that of the Apple Watch. One marked difference between the Apple Watch and the Oppo Watch is the Digital Crown. Apple’s Smartwatch has a crown which functions as a utility knob. However, the Oppo Watch does not have that. Instead, it has a second and somewhat larger button just as seen on other WearOS devices. The Watch also offers an attractive blue color which does not feature on the Apple Watch. Similarly, the bands on the Oppo Watch are also somewhat different from its Apple counterpart.

What More Do We Know About the Oppo Watch?

While there was not a whole lot of information available on the Oppo Watch, details have been recently leading up to the launch. According to the latest details disclosed through a Feb 17th tweet by Oppo Exec Brian Shen, the Watch will have a curved screen and 3D glass. He had previously also shared an image of the watch on Weibo on 30th of January, 2020. This picture showcases the second top button as well as the microphone and intriguing green line under the lower button.

The image also showcases the curved screen of the Oppo Watch and this is even more clear in another image shared on the 25th of February. According to an independent inquiry via Google translate, the Watch is designated an Android System. This has led experts to speculate that the Watch will be using Google’s wearOS. We would have liked to have had more information but this is all that the company has given to the media so far.

When Will the Oppo Find X2 Will be Held?

According to the latest release by Oppo representatives, the event will be held on March 6th at 4:30 AM ET. So, those who are keen on potentially buying the watch or exploring all that it has to offer, will not have to wait long. Experts and industry veterans are anticipating that the Watch will do fairly well in the market considering its close resemblance with the Apple Watch and the expanding market for Smartwatches.
