New Delhi, Mon, 16 Mar 2020 Deepak Kumar

In wake of the widespread outbreak of Coronavrius it is necessary everyone to understand the symptoms and see differences in the symptoms of Coronavirus, Flu and Allergy. The symptoms like common cold, headache and fever are common in Coronavirus, Flu and Allergy. Find out the symptoms of Coronavirus, Flu and Allergy, so that you can contact the medical professionals for further investigations.

The COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak is spread all over the world and many countries are badly affected. This disease is spread through already infected people. If a healthy person comes in contact with an infected person the disease might get transferred through coughing, air droplets, touch or by using the items previously used by the patient. This disease is very infectious and spreads fast. There is no vaccine or proven medicine for this disease, so taking precautions is the best way to protect yourself.

If you develop any symptoms you should contact the health authorities in your area to test yourself fast.

Here we are discussing the symptoms of the three and find out how they differ from each other.

The common symptoms are common cold, headache and fever. The symptoms are very similar but there are little differences between them, but only laboratory tests will confirm the case. The test for Coronavirus is conducted only in the specialized authorized labs.

Following table shows the symptoms of all three diseases:

Coronavirus Flu Allergies
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breathing or difficult breathing
  • Symptoms appear 2-14 days after exposure
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Muscles aches
  • Fatigue & weakness
  • Chills & sweats
  • Congestion
  • Sore throat
  • Sneezing
  • Itchy nose, eyes or roof of the mouth
  • Runny, stuffy nose
  • Watery, red or swollen eyes

The main problem here is that the symptoms like the common cold, headache and fever might be mistaken with the flu or allergies. The Coronavirus also known as COVID-19 infected persons have the same symptoms along with some other symptoms.

Only the lab test will be able to find out if a patient is infected with the deadly Coronavirus, moreover this test is not available in all the laboratories but only designated labs can perform this test.

The Coronavirus primarily affects people’s lungs by causing difficulty in breathing or even shortness of breath with dry coughing being a common symptom. Now, if you have a runny nose, you are probably not affected by the Coronavirus.

The most important symptom is the shortening of the breath, usually this symptom is not associated with colds or flu. So, if you are feeling the shortening of breath then you should immediately contact the medical professionals for further investigation. The headaches and diarrhoea comes under the rare symptom of Coronavirus.

The flu and cold, weakness, chills and congestion are the symptoms of influenza that are considered to be a seasonal disease. If you experience it each year around the same period then there less chances that you have Coronavirus.

Now, in case of allergies you might experience redness in your eyes, sneezing and running nose. Allergies usually go away in less than 2 weeks but it still persists then consult your doctor.

As of now the right way to prevent this disease is to keep safe distance from the people having such symptoms. Don’t go out or in public functions, wash your hands with soap on regular intervals and use face mask while going out.
