Of all the big names we find in the smartphone world, LG is one. The company has been rolling out amazing devices and has been going strong with the launch of each flagship. Quite like Samsung, LG also has both budget, premium and low cost devices which has helped the company diversify its market and reach out to maximum people.
Next we hear from sources is that LG is gearing up for the release of its G-series. And there have been reports coming around about LG sticking to its modular design for the G-series. Now this has apparently come as a big surprise for all. It is notable that LG had released its LG G5 in the beginning of 2016, unfortunately, the device didn't perform as expected and the modular design wasn't much appreciated.
Given the fat LG G5 had, it was expected that LG would ditch the modular design and look for something better. However, it has ruled over all possibilities and chosen to launch modular design only, which was introduced to failure. The news was confirmed by LG's spokesperson Ken Hong; he stated that company is not going to give up the modular notion in the following generation.
Things in the past
For the uninitiated, LG G5 released in the early 2016 and its major highlight was the modular accessories hailed as LG Friends. LG showcased quite a few modules such as a camera add-on, LG Cam Plus, and Hi-Fi Plus, co-developed by LG and Bang & Olufsen. It happened to be a handy audio playback add-on in the midst of others. The corroboration from LG about sticking to the same old modular concept is indeed good for the current owners of LG G5 as this may subject to receiving new add- ons in 2017.
Speaking to sources, Hong also disclosed that Samsung's recently launched V20 smartphone's development was not affected with the low performance of LG G5.
For those who are not aware about the development, LG of late unveiled its V20 smartphone which is expected to be live for sale in Korean market first. LG has claimed that its latest offering, V20 is going to be world's first smartphone to run the newly updated Android 7.0 Nougat.
LG V20 is the successor of LG V10, and it has proved to be a prominent upgrade from the previous device. The LG V20 comes with a novel design, amazing camera setup, and plenty of audio features. So far, we don't have the updated about LG V20 price, but it would soon be unveiled when we have the updates handy.
As of now, we can expect LG to stick to its modular design in the next G5 series smartphone, and it would be interesting to see if luck favors LG this time around.
