Samsung never ceases to surprise us. The South Korean smartphone maker is certainly on a roll these days. It has been unveiling new smartphones one after the other. Of late, we heard of its Note 7 and A7 (2017) - and now the reports suggest that Samsung has launched its most recent Tizen-powered device - the Samsung Z2 - in Africa.
With this, the Z2 has turned to be the first Samsung smartphone to get released in the African continent , that too the one powered by Tizen.
The report about the same was confirmed by Craige Fleischer, who is the Director of Integrated Mobility at Samsung Electronics South Africa. While sharing his thoughts on the latest update, Craige stated, “We are delighted to be able to bring Samsung’s much-awaited Z2 handset to the South African market; providing an affordable handset that has a range of fantastic attributes, not the least of which is its 4G capability. This alone puts it in the company of some of the best smartphones available today."
Price & Specifications
The Tizen Phone Z2 is going to be a star stealer in South Africa, as it is the first smartphone to get released over there with a Tizen update. Revealing more details about the price and specifications of the device, sources said that the handset is expected to be available at a price of ZAR 1,099. The amount translates to approximately $78. On the other hand, Vodacom is also said to be offering it with plans that start from R79 (approximately $6) per month.
For the uninitiated, this device was earlier made available in the Indian sub continent last month. The sale for Tizen Z2 actually began after a month from the release. If you talk of the features of the Z2, the specifications of Z2 are inclusive of a Spreadtrum chipset with quad-core processor. It has a 3.97-inch display. As for storage, the Z2 comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory.
At the camera front, Samsung Z2 has 5MP/VGA camera setup, and is complemented with a 1,500mAh battery.
It would really be interesting to see as to how Z2 will perform in the country. We don’t have much information about it yet, as there have been very few details that have been unveiled. However, as the phone has already been launched, we can expect to have detail of each specification in depth.
