New Delhi, Tue, 13 Sep 2016 NI Wire

There was a time when BlackBerry enjoyed the cult status in the smartphone market. The device had the then loved premium features and impressive built.

And we are sure most of you must have enjoyed the BlackBerry messenger too, which was what we had back then instead of Watsapp. However, times changed for BlackBerry as more and more companies started stepping in the smartphone arena.

With the onset of smartphones, scenario changed completely and BlackBerry was almost on the verge of going extinct. This is what had happened too. However, latest buss states that BlackBerry is now gearing up for a comeback in the market after being in anonymity for years. Reports say that the company would be returning with a new device in South Korea.

Sources have updated that the Canadian company is gearing up to launch its first ever Android device, named as Priv in the Asian country. The device would be unveiled during an event to be held on September 20.

It is notable that BlackBerry had stepped into South Korean smartphone market in the year 2009. Soon the company decided to pull back when its sales dropped drastically in 2012. It is notable that it was the same year when we saw some other prominent devices exiting the market which included HTC, Nokia, and Motorola. Samsung and LG had taken over the buyer space which resulted in these brands taking a backseat.

With this, BlackBerry has even made it clear that it has no plans of setting up an office in South Korea. But it's all geared up to launch the new Android device and compete with the current giants in the field.

Result On Market

We are already spoiled with choices and with BlackBerry joining the smartphone making league, it would be interesting to see how other devices will face this challenge. It will be a tough fight but as we know the current market is full of some amazing designs and premium devices, and where Prive will stand is something to wait and watch for.

For now, it's just the news about BlackBerry making a comeback, let us know see when it unveils the features of its debut Android device.
