iPhone 8 Features - The 'iPhone 8 in Making' Mystery Unravelled

New Delhi, Fri, 09 Dec 2016 NI Wire

iPhone rumoured features surfacing online with various leaks and posts, iPhone rumoured to come with most path-breaking technology

Whether you are a user, or a potential buyer, or the distant admirer of the iPhone, there is a certain amount of anticipation and appreciation which every Smartphone consumer in India feels, when a new model of the phone is about to get launched and eventually gets unveiled. The standard of technology that is exhibited in its models, coupled with the brand name of Apple (manufacturers), makes iPhone an example setter and sets it apart from all.

Now, it is well known that the latest in the iPhone series, which was launched in the month of September, earlier this year, was iPhone7 and 7 Plus. It hasn't been long since the last release and Rumour already has it that iPhone 8 is in its inception.

The curiosity level of the readers must have reached its highest levels on hearing the news. Here is a consolidated report on the buzz and the leaks related to the upcoming gadget of the endearing brand.

The 'Radical Variant' Breeze: The most interesting speculation surrounding the next model in the series is that Apple has undertaken to incorporate some its most path-breaking technology features in it. One factor that supports the theory is that on 29th June, 2017 Apple will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of launch first iPhone and what can be a better way to mark the occasion, than bringing a twist and presenting innovation through its most popular product.

The Probable Unique Outer: Since it has been circulated that the new model will be altogether different, the exteriors are expected to go through a makeover too. An all-glass encasing would hopefully be seen in the iPhone 8. This idea has also been propounded by Ming Chi Kuo, KGI Securities Analyst, who has gained much prominence by leaking exact information on the products of Apple. In a report published in May this year, Kuo said that Glass casing, which was already used in iPhone 4 and 4S and which went through durability problem, can be back again with major improvement.

Japanese website Nikkei has reportedly been told by source that glass chassis is being tried by Foxconn, the Apple Assembler, since last year. These reports added with the fact that glass body can provide greater options for wireless charging and better antenna reception to Smartphones, make the rumour sound more convincing.

Another report by Nikkei in March contained that Apple would come up with OLED display in its phone in 2017, doing away with the LCD technology that it has used till now. Again, the Korea Herald backed the report by saying that Samsung has bagged a contract to manufacture 100 million 5.5- inch panels of OLED per year starting from 2017 at a price of USD 2.59 Billion.  As per Wall Street Journal, one of the prototypes tested by Apple features curved OLED display. Also, there are anticipations of the new gadgets having 4K display that would make them compatible for virtual reality apps.

The Much-Anticipated Dual Camera: The industry insiders are of the opinion that the 2017 iPhone would be loaded with the technology of dual camera. However, Ming Chi Kuo suggests that this technology will remain limited to the 'larger Plus models' next year.

The Axing of the Home Button: This was hoped to be done in the iPhone 7 model itself, but did not happen. Now with the upcoming phone, Apple is expected to introduce touch-sensitive digital button ditching the physical Home button.

Storm, a Chinese website has reported that the same touch sensory motors that were used in iPhone 7 will be used in the new devices for a virtual button.

The Hassle Free Wireless Charging: It is predicted that Apple is developing a state of art wireless technology that would enable iPhones and even iPads to be placed at a distance from chargers, which is not facilitated in other Smartphones. This is claimed in a report by Bloomberg in January.

An anonymous source also says that Apple has geared up to enhance the wireless charging experience by trying to remove the technical impediments like 'loss of power over distance' and launch the same with their next release.

The Safeguarding Water Resistance and Iris Scanner: IP67 is a rating, given to iPhone 7 and Apple watch, denoting that the devices are resistant to water up to a depth of 1 metre for 30 minutes. This feature would most probably be carried forward to the iPhone 8 for the good.

The scanning of eyes of the user for unlocking the phone is a function of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. This Iris Scanner functionality is about to be embedded in the handsets to be manufactured for next release by US computing giant. If a report is to be believed, Xintec, a Taiwanese company has been given the contract of manufacturing iris recognition chips for use in iPhones.

The Name Game: Going by the Wall Street Journal's report, “iPhone 8” is the name of the phone which would be rolled out next in the series of handsets produced by Apple. But referring to the “tick-tock” cycle, established by the company iPhone 7s should be the name by which the phone would be known.

The cycle refers to the release of a new design every two years and new feature encased in the same handset every alternate year (which are named 's' models traditionally).

According to some sources, the duration of the cycle may be increased by the company for major change and the 's' can be eliminated for something refreshing.

The Pocket Pinch: It would be unreasonable to say that the price of the phones next in line can be on the lower side, for that is impossible to buy a box of cutting-edge technology. Looking at the trend, the iPhone 8 would be a bit expensive, but not sky-high in comparison to iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

The Curtain-Raising Day: Traditionally Apple chooses to unveil the new variants of its phone in that part of the year when Christmas shopping starts, i.e., the first two weeks of September. However, given the special anniversary date nearing, the same may be chosen for giving a nostalgic touch.

Although much has been said, the absolute curbing of the excitement generated would surely take quite some time, because these are not officially confirmed reports and anyway the truth will only come out when the real unboxing of the potential marvel ultimately takes place.
