PM Modi's message on Earth Day

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has given his message on Earth Day and posted the message in his Twitter account.

In his Twitter message he called Earth is our mother and we are her children. PM Modi posted following message on his twitter account.

"Earth Day is the perfect occasion to reaffirm our commitment to keep our Planet clean, green and focus on sustainable development. We belong to a culture that believes in the Mantra- "माता भूमिः पुत्रोऽहं पृथिव्याः" (Earth is our Mother and we are her children). Caring for the environment is an integral part of our ethos. India can truly show the way to the world in mitigating climate change," the Prime Minister said in a series of tweets.

Each year Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 in more than 192 countries world wide. The Earth Day was first celebrated in the year 1970 and now more than 192 countries participate in this event.

This year 'Earth Day 2015' is the 45th anniversary of the annual day of Earth Day. Earth day begin in the year 1970 in United States when rallies for the environment project were taking place.
