Johannesburg, Mar. 6 (ANI): Ukraine's new Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said embattled Crimea must remain part of Ukraine.
In his first interview since taking office last week, Yatsenyuk Crimea said Crimea will however be granted more local powers, adding that a special task force should be established 'to consider what kind of additional autonomy could it get'.
According to news24, Yatsenyuk blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for causing one of the worst international crises in Europe since the end of the Cold War.
He even expressed fears about further possible Russian incursions.
Yatsenyuk, approved by parliament on 27 February, also denied a report that cash-strapped Ukraine was negotiating with the United States for deployment of US missile defences in exchange for financial help, the report said.
On Tuesday, Secretary of State John Kerry visited Kiev to announce one billion dollars in US assistance to Ukraine in the form of energy subsides. (ANI)
