Karachi, Mar 6 (ANI): The impressive batting form of Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi against India and Bangladesh respectively in the Asia Cup has reportedly raised his team's hopes of regaining the title of the upcoming World Twenty20 tournament.
Afridi's fiery knocks of 34 not out and 59 against India and Bangladesh respectively lifted Pakistan from difficult situations and into the finals of the Asia Cup.
According to the Express Tribune, Pakistani Test and ODI captain Misbah-ul Haq, who will not be a part of the team in the World Twenty20, said that Afridi's current form would be crucial for the team in the event as he is the main player of the team, for which his confidence and form will be their biggest plus.
Misbah further said that Afridi can be utilised in any batting order, depending on the situation, and former head coach Mohsin Khan agreed with Misbah, saying that Afridi is the kind of a player who can demolish any opposition single-handedly.
Khan also said that the kind of aggression Afridi shows in his batting and bowling is rare, although he warned Pakistan to improve the fielding for the final of the Asia Cup given that Sri Lanka are tough opponents. (ANI)
