Nairobi Westgate shopping Mall hostage situation is far from over as gunmen early Monday threw grenades from inside mall at security forces trying to rescue the remaining hostages. Gunfire was also heard inside the mall.
68 people have been killed so far while more than 170 people have been wounded. Numbers can still go up as Kenyan Security forces try to take control.
Most of the hostages held in an attack have been rescued, according to defense officials.
Somalia's Al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has confirmed that they have secured most of the building as they strove to bring the operation which entered its third day Monday to a "speedy conclusion".
KDF spokesperson Cyrus Oguna said, "Most of the hostages have been released and KDF has taken control of most parts of the building. We believe there are no more than 10 hostages remaining inside the building".
The attack began at about 1pm on Saturday when some 15 heavily armed men entered the complex and opened fire as they chanted jihad slogans.
