Former World No.1 tennis player Martina Hingis of Switzerland has decided to come out of her retirement after6 years and to play at the Southern California Open in Carlsbad, which will be played from July 27 to Aug 4.
Martina will team up with her former partner Daniela Hantuchova from Slovakia.
During an interview Martina said that she is in good shape at the moment and loves being on court. Hingis who won singles and doubles at the Southern California Open in 1997 and singles in 1999 says she is excited about her return on court and is very much looking forward to it.
32-year-old, winner of 43 WTA titles remained World No.1 for 209 weeks.
Hingis retired twice, first in 2003 at the age of 22 owing to recurring ankle injury but returned to the WTA Tour in 2006.
She then quit again in 2007 after she was tested for cocaine. She was also banned for two years by the International Tennis Federation.
Martina Hingis has won 5 Grand Slam singles titles and 9 doubles titles.
