Though muscular or joint pain or difficulties experienced in body movements are experienced as the common symptoms of arthritis, clinical examination can ascertain numerous types of arthritis as per the contributing factors or skeletal condition in the joints. Some of the major types of arthritis are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, infectious arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

While osteoarthritis is particularly an arthritic condition that occurs in aged people suffering from wear and tear of the joints, rheumatoid arthritis is a immune problem the exact cause of which is still unknown. Gout is a types of arthritis that happens mostly due to over accumulation of uric acid in the body while infectious Arthritis is basically an outcome of severe infection in the joints that lead to arthritic syndromes. Psoriasis which is basically a skin disorder caused by faulty immune signal causing over production of skin cells can also escalate to joint disorder which is called psoriatic arthritis. Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis or JIA as the name suggests is a types of arthritis which is mostly found in children. Here below the symptoms of arthritis in various different types of the disorder.

Symptoms of Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis affecting highest number of people compared to all other types of arthritis. Osteoarthritis is basically a type of arthritis caused by ageing related wear and tear of the joints and people in their sixties or seventies are more vulnerable to this type of arthritis. Compared to the symptoms of arthritis of other types osteoarthritis can manifests in diverse range of symptoms ranging from morning stiffness and immovability of joints to severe joint pain to lumps in the bones or joints to deformation of the joints.

Some of the most commonly diagnosed symptoms of osteoarthritis are provided here below:

  1. Stiffness and immovability of joints, especially after the prolonged sleep or rest.
  2. Moderate to severe pain felt after moving the joints.

  5. Loss of flexibility in joint movement.
  6. Deformation of joints of finger or formation of lumps on the bone of the fingers in severe cases of osteoarthritis.

Symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is basically an autoimmune disorder in which the protective mechanism of body called immune system by mistake provides a wrong signal to the antibodies to attack the muscular skeletal cells, especially those are of joints and this develops into symptoms of arthritis. Unlike Osteoarthritis or other types of arthritis in which the symptoms are local and in which the arthritic condition is only to be seen in the affected joints, in this type of arthritis it has been typically observed that if one joint or muscular skeletal portion of body got affected other joints or body portions will soon follow.

Some of the most commonly diagnosed symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis are listed below:

  1. Rheumatoid arthritis is not local as common local deteriorating condition of joints does not cause this Arthritis. This Arthritis develops in a more symmetrical nature means if one joint is affected it will soon be followed by other joints or muscular skeletal areas.
  2. Pain in moving the body and stiffness of the joints and almost the whole body after prolonged rest, especially early in the morning after the hours long sleeping at night.
  3. Experiencing tremendous fatigue, weakness and pain in body movement.
  4. Inflammation and swelling of the joints.
  5. Lumps or nodules around the joints can occur, especially in the elbow.
  6. Increasing joint pain in winter or cold weather condition.

Symptoms of Gout

Gout is a type of arthritis which is mainly caused by the deposit of uric acid crystals in the joints. Though initially this form of arthritis manifests in one joint, over time it can slowly spread to other joints or muscular skeletal portions of the body. Gout can be very painful and without medically being addressed can make a person completely crippled.

Here are some of the important symptoms of Gout provided below:

  1. Acute inflammation of the joint with swelling, redness, heat and severe pain are the common symptoms of Gout.
  2. Compared to the symptoms of arthritis in other forms Gout is peculiar in one respect that is, gout normally affects the big toe more than any other areas of the body and surprisingly enough it can be normal in some cases within weeks, though it may differ as well.
  3. Gout is medically seen associated with some symptoms of kidney stone as well. So along with gout if one experiences flank or groin pain or blood in the urine it can further enhance the clinical doubt of a kidney stone.

Symptoms of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis or in abbreviation JIA is a type of rheumatoid arthritis that happens mainly in young children and like rheumatoid arthritis it is also an outcome of faulty immune system signal to attack body's healthy cells. In JIA immune system particularly targets the Synovium, a particular type of tissue in the joint that nourishes and lubricates the cartilage and helps in joint movement.

Here are some of the most common symptoms of JIA:

  1. Joint pain, swelling and stiffness that can encompass both large joints or smaller joints or hips, back, etc.
  2. Problems in child's natural body movement or walking.
  3. Trouble in sleeping is one of the most common symptoms of this arthritis.
  4. Fever and rash on the skin is also seen in many cases of JIA.

Other Minor Types of Arthritis and Their Symptoms

Apart from the above mentioned types of arthritis there are few other minor types of arthritis like infectious arthritis, psoriatic arthritis. Infectious arthritis is a type of arthritis that is occurred due to infection in the joints and manifests in painful inflammatory symptoms of the joints and the symptoms typically exist as long as the infectious gets treated. Symptoms of arthritis caused by the psoriasis mostly manifests in the joints of the limbs where the psoriatic skin condition is in most acute state.
