Symptoms of Kidney Stone

Kidney stone as per clinical understanding is a stone formed in the kidney due to excess calcium deposit over the years. The symptoms of kidney stone are not always something clinically severe or painful enough to be regarded as symptoms as in many people kidney stone is common but unless and until the movement of the stone within the kidney or in the tubes of the urinary tract causes pain it is not medically considered as a disorder. Hence here we are going to discuss only in regard to the kidney stone which is large enough to occur distinct and painful symptoms.

Remember any symptom pertaining to the difficulty experienced in the regular flow of urine should be susceptible as one of the symptoms of kidney stone besides seeing other symptoms that occur simultaneously if the person really has a stone big enough to cause painful syndromes in his or her kidney. Most people become panicked over the presence of a stone in kidney, but contrary to this so called panic kidney stone in small size that can easily pass through the urine is non symptomatic and that hardly can be a potential threat to life. But kidney stone big enough to be unable to pass through the urinary tract is a matter of medical concern and manifests in painful symptoms. Let us now have a look at various symptoms of kidney stone.

  1. The pain caused by kidney stone, especially at the time of urinating can be severe to fluctuating as well. The pain may sometimes occur, can fluctuate in severity or can become severe to cause even secretion of blood with the urine.
  2. In many severe cases the urine is blocked and that causes pain in the back portion, especially in the places close to kidney, the two sides of the lower back just above the ribs.
  3. Continuing pain in the groin area or in the portion of the kidney that gets accelerated with the body movements.
  4. Pain may escalate to testicles, flanks or labium.
  5. The pain can be severe if the stone is lodged in the urethra.
  6. Foul smelling urine is also one of the accompanying symptoms of kidney stone, though this cannot alone indicate to the disorder.
  7. Continuous or frequent urge to urinate is another most common accompanying symptom of kidney stone.
  8. Kidney stone make the patient more vulnerable to urinary infection.
  9. Cloudy or non clear urine and/or blood secretion is the most common among the symptoms of kidney stone.
  10. In some cases chills, fever, nausea and vomiting can also be caused.

Remember, however painful be the symptoms or however similar it looks as per the symptoms of kidney stone mentioned above, you should not judge by yourself unless and until you go through clinical checkups.
