EDMC is committed to keep area clean: Mayor

Mayor of East Delhi, Dr. Annapurna Mishra has said that EDMC is committed to keep East Delhi cleaner and it is a step in the direction. She was addressing a gathering after flagging off a fleet of 30 new garbage removal trucks at CBD Ground, Karkardooma, Shahdara. On this occasion, Deputy Mayor, Usha Devrani Shastri; Chairman Standing Committee,. Mehak Singh; Deputy Chairman and Municipal Commissioner S.S. Yadav were also present.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Annapurna Mishra said that these trucks will help to improve the cleanliness in East Delhi. The garbage and solid waste will now easily be collected and disposed at SLF site, Ghazipur properly. She said that EDMC is committed to keep East Delhi cleaner and it is a step in the direction.

Chairman Standing Committee Mehak Singh said that the EDMC had very outdated fleet of trucks and it required a modern fleet for effective cleaning of the areas under its jurisdiction. Hence, the decision to procure new equipments including vehicles was taken and orders were placed to procure 70 new trucks to Ashoka Leyland and Tata Motors.

Commissioner, S.S. Yadav on the occasion said that East Delhi Municipal Corporation now have a fleet of 30 new Trucks which means better cleanliness in the area. He added that 40 more trucks will be joining the fleet by the end of this month to further strengthen the fleet.

He informed further that the cost of each truck is about Rs. 20 lakh and every truck is Bharat Stage IV compliant of pollution emission norms. He said we are committed to improve the sanitation conditions in East Delhi with the help of this new fleet.

Mayor Dr. Mishra also dedicated the EDMC's Citizens Helpline number-'155303' into the service. She said that through this helpline service, not only the public complaints will be registered but citizens would also be able to know about the services rendered by the different departments or for their particular work whom they need to contact.
