It seems that collection of property tax has become a tough task for East Delhi Municipal Corporation, EDMC. Now EDMC has decided to exercises drum beating program so that it can get its due property tax on various defaulters.
According to EDMC sources, East Delhi Municipal Corporation today organized drum beating in the area falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station, Seelampur to recover the property tax from defaulters.
The properties had the outstanding property tax dues upto 31.3.2004.The team of property tax staff with the Police Force carried out the drum beating in front of defaulter properties.
The Assessor and Collector, Alka R. Sharma appealed the property owners/ occupiers to pay their tax liabilities to the Corporation in time to avoid stern action against them in case of default.
She further said that the department would continue to take action against the defaulters for recovery of the tax due towards them.
