With 9 new patients recorded of Swine Flu on Sunday in New Delhi, the total number of people infected by the Influenza A (H1N1) virus has gone to 73 in just January and February 2013.
1 death in January and 3 deaths in February (till Sunday) have taken the death toll to a total of 4.
39 cases were recorded in January and 34 cases have been recorded so far in February.
Last year, there were only 4 cases reported during the same period. In 2012, a total of 78 Swine Flu cases were recorded in the entire year with only 1 death.
A K Walia, Delhi Health minister has said that Delhi is completely prepared to fight the disease. "Medicines have been arranged and are in adequate supply. We have also had a meeting with hospitals with regard to testing facilities and that has been arranged."
Swine Flu cases have been recorded in other states of India as well. 54 deaths have been recorded in Rajasthan and the state is on high alert. 13 deaths have been recorded in Haryana while 9 deaths have been reported in Punjab in the same time period.
Swine flu symptoms include high fever, sore throat, breathlessness, body ache and fatigue.
