'Refreshed' Kallis raring to make comeback in first Test against Pak in UAE

Johannesburg , Mon, 14 Oct 2013 ANI

Johannesburg, Oct 14 (ANI): South Africa's premier batsman Jacques Kallis has said that he felt refreshed after a three-month break from cricket and it had prepared him well for the first Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

According to Sport24, Kallis, who returned to domestic matches after his break, played the last of his 162 Tests against Pakistan in February this year and has not featured in a limited over international since early 2012.

He said that after 17-18 years, he needed a good three months away and it had been a pleasurable period where he could refresh his mind and get a little niggle sorted out.

The 37-year-old, who hit a confident 70 in the drawn side game ahead of the two-Test series, said he was feeling good.

He said that he was hitting the ball as well as he has ever hit and probably playing the best cricket of his life, adding that from that point of view, it had been two weeks of good work.

Kallis also said he was confident the South African batsmen would handle Pakistan's spinners, led by the prolific bowler Saeed Ajmal, well.

Kallis will again miss the five-match one-day series against Pakistan that follows the Tests, the report said. (ANI)
