Security firm warns Adobe hack puts all computers running software 'at risk'

Johannesburg, Sat, 12 Oct 2013 ANI

Johannesburg, Oct. 12 (ANI): A security firm has said that the recent hack on Adobe systems has put all the computers running the software at risk of being attacked.

The hackers exploited the systems and made off with source code along with credit card numbers relating to three million of its customers.

Director of Security Research at SpiderLabs, Ziv Mador said hat the risk is elevated because the attackers can now analyse the stolen source code and identify vulnerabilities that were not known so far, News24 reports.

Although, Adobe was quick to reset the customer passwords, but the risk still prevails as the hackers can now develop exploits for the known vulnerabilities or 'zero days'.

Mador said that the hack shows that even resourceful companies may be successfully targeted and breached and they must take precautions and apply comprehensive security policy to minimize the risk of such breaches.

He further said that local enterprises should act to improve the security of critical data and networks as digital assets like credit card information, detailed customer information and other desired intellectual property are compelling for cybercriminals, the report added. (ANI)
