The Delhi Lt. Governor, Najeeb Jung has exhorted the citizens of the National Capital to contribute their mite for prevention and control of tuberculosis as well as welfare of TB patients by making generous contributions to the Delhi Tuberculosis Association. The Lt. Governor made this appeal at the launch of 64thState level TB Seal Sale Campaign of the Association at Raj Niwas.
On this occasion, the Lt. Governor said Tuberculosis continues to be a major public health challenge and ignorance about the fact that the disease is curable is also one reason for its higher incident. He stressed the urgent need to encourage T.B. Control programme.
He said mass awareness about the curability of Tuberculosis on its early diagnosis has brought us closer to the disease eradication. Stating that enlightened citizens of Delhi are always willing to donate for a genuine cause, Jung said that he appeals them to voluntarily contribute to the noble cause.
The sale proceeds of these campaigns are utilized by the Association for creation of general awareness about tuberculosis, the greatest public health problem in our country, providing welfare measures including financial grant to the needy TB patients and other activities pertaining to prevention and control of tuberculosis in the disadvantaged and marginalized communities.
