New Delhi, Aug 12 (IANS) Su-Kam Power Systems will install and commission solar photovoltaic equipment for 35 schools in the central African nation of Rwanda, the company announced here Monday.

The power back-up solutions provider said it "has recently bagged a turnkey solar project covering 35 schools in Rwanda through the ministry of external affairs".

Besides the supply, installation and commissioning of solar photovoltaic equipment and associated items at the schools located in remote areas of Rwanda, company officials will also provide on-site training on operation and maintenance to the Rwandan personnel.

"In Africa, many countries do not have the basic infrastructure to set up power plants for energy generation. At such places, solar solutions are the apt and most lucrative ways for meeting power needs. The continent has abundant solar energy that can be tapped and utilized accordingly," said Dhananjay Sharma, the company's general manager for solar business.

With a presence in over 70 countries, including Nigeria, Malawi and Gabon in Africa, Su-Kam has installed wind and solar energy-powered plants for the first time in five remote villages of Malawi, it said.

In Gabon, Su-Kam has electrified rural areas like Kango, Mouila and Bitam.
