Washington, Aug. 6 (ANI): Microsoft's launch of Surface tablets intended to compete with competitors like Apple's iPad has reportedly failed to garner success even when the company has dropped the prices to boost sales.
According to ABC News, Microsoft dropped the price of its Surface RT to 350 dollars from 499 dollars a few weeks ago and it has announced a similar change for 64GB Surface Pro tablet to 799 dollars down by a hundred dollar.
Microsoft spokesperson said that the company is seeing great worldwide success with Surface RT pricing and keyboard-cover promotions over the past several months and they are eager for more people to get their hands on Surface with affordable prices.
However, the reviews of the two products do not indicate much of a liking by users as the RT version is cheaper and thinner running Windows RT OS which doesn't support traditional Windows programs and the Pro version runs all Windows programs and a full version of Windows 8, but it is thicker, gets only five hours of battery life and costs double the amount.
Principal analyst for Reticle Research, Ross Rubin said that both products suffered from the poor reception of Windows and even poorer reception to Windows RT.
He added that the challenge for Microsoft at this point in time is the consumer reception to Windows 8 and the company trying to make the case for something being a tablet and a PC, the report added. (ANI)
