OZ school under fire for holding mini models contest

Melbourne , Sun, 19 May 2013 ANI

Melbourne, May 19 (ANI): A Gold Coast Primary school has come in for a bit of criticism after it launched a model search for kids as young as two.

The Ashmore State School Model Search, which features categories for kids from 2-13, will be held at a Family Fun Fair next month, and the prizes will include modeling courses valued up to 500 dollars for winners and categories like best catwalk model and most photogenic, News.com.au reported.

No make-up is allowed and there is no evening wear category.

The competition has been held to raise money for the school.

In the latest school newsletter, deputy principal Amanda Fry has assured parents that the competition is contest is not a beauty pageant, saying that there was no category for beauty and the trophies are for only best dressed, best catwalk and most photogenic. (ANI)
