Windies 'mystery' spinner Narine says varying length key to bowling success

Manama, Tue, 07 May 2013 ANI

Manama, May 7 (ANI): West Indies mystery spinner Sunil Narine has said that it is important for a bowler to vary his length while delivering a ball.

Accepting that most wickets in India are batsmen-friendly, Narine, who plays for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), said that the success of a bowler, however, depends on the batsmen to whom he is bowling, Gulf News reports.

The Trinidadian cricketer further said that since he is aware that he would not get regular success, his target remains to try and bowl at the best of his ability

Narine, who is a fan of Caribbean legend Brian Lara, said that he feels more confident and satisfied by KKR's superstar owner Shah Rukh Khan's praise that he has a special ability to win matches.

Praising KKR captain Gautam Gambhir, Narine said that Gambhir is brilliant and has been constantly guiding him and giving him tips to battle top-class batsmen, since Gambhir himself is a strong fighter against spin bowling.

Although Narine admitted that there are more people coming in to see Twenty20 matches as compared to Test games, he, however, said that the popularity of Test cricket is not waning, adding that it is the best format of the game and still maintains its appeal for fans and cricketers alike. (ANI)
