New Delhi, Mar. 13 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on Wednesday said the country will witness a robust economy in the next two to three years.
Dr. Singh, who intervened in Question Hour in the Lok Sabha today, expressed confidence that the economy will bounce back to its normal growth following the measures taken by the government.
Dr. Singh said the GDP growth slowed down due to several reasons including the global meltdown. He further said all the domestic factors affecting the economy will be addressed.
The Prime Minister had earlier on Friday said the Indian economy will bounce back to the seven to eight percent growth rate path within three years.
Dr. Singh, who defended the reforms introduced in the country under his regime, said 'the UPA inherited a fast growing economy and we led with it".
"The country needs a growth rate of 8-9 percent if we are to get rid of poverty and unemployment We will come out of current economic situation and bounce back to seven to eight percent growth in two to three years," said Dr. Singh, while replying to the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address.
Expressing concern over the current slowdown in industrial growth, Dr. Singh had earlier last Wednesday said the UPA Government will continue to focus on inclusive growth. (ANI)
