Paris, Feb 15 (IANS) Tennis player Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic was banned for six months after testing positive for doping, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced.
The ITF said the 26-year-old took a weight-loss substance, sibutramine, at the Luxembourg Open last year, Xinhua reports.
"Zahlavova Strycova asserted that the sibutramine, for which she did not hold a valid therapeutic use exemption, had got into her system through her ingestion of the supplement ACAI Berry Thin," ITF said Thursday.
"She is suspended from participation for six months, back-dated to commence from Oct 16, 2012 and so ending at midnight April 15, 2013."
