The book lovers can take a ride of their favourite books at 18th Delhi Book Fair from 1-9 September with he inauguration of the exhibition at Pragati Maidan on Saturday. Chief guest Tajendra Khanna, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi accompanied by Shri Shakti Malik, Director- Delhi Book Fair; Smt. Rita Menon, Chairman and Managing Director- India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO); Shri Sudhir Malhotra, President- Federation of Indian Publishers; Shri Niraj Gupta, Executive Director- India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) inaugurated the function in Indian tradition by lightening the lamp.
Organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation, the seven-day fair includes a total of 235 participants including participants from publishers from Pakistan, the United States, Britain, France and Germany.
The central theme of this year’s book fair is e-books.
The publishers should keep a pace with the dynamic technological advancement and fulfill the need of the younger generation, which are e-books and pocket books today. Books are the source of knowledge and publishers should spread the reach of their books to maximum readers, said Tajendra Khanna, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi during his inaugural speech.
He wished all the participants including the domestic and international participants success for the Book fair.
Smt. Rita Menon, Chairman and Managing Director, ITPO said, with the ongoing technological adoption by the world, e-publishing has become the need of the new generation and the publishers should focus on e-books, which promises larger audience.
Delhi Book fair is aimed to stimulate the reading habits among the people. The fair important to all including the publishers, readers and writers. We provide 50% discount to Hindi publishers to encourage them, said Sudhir Malhotra, President- Federation of Indian Publishers.
