Union Defence Minister A. K. Antony will head the panel, which looks into the Congress defeat in Punjab and Goa. Chief minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit and Union minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will be the member of the panel. Panel will also find out the reason for the party's lackadaisical performance in Uttarakhand where it's failed to get own majority.
According to party sources the review committee has been formed to find out the reason behind the poor party performance in such states. Panel will also analyse the cause as well as introspect the situation so that how its prospect will be improved for 2014 election. Panel will submit its report to party president Sonia Gandhi.
Defence Minister A.K. Antony has vast organisational experience and better knowledge in analysing the situations. He had headed the committee constituted by party president Sonia Gandhi to investigate the causes of party's defeat in the 1999 Lok Sabha polls.
Committee members have already meet with the many leaders of Punjab and Uttarakhand. The situations in Punjab is very poor where due to open blame-game between the senior leaders have created a hurdle in the honest introspection of the party debacle.
It is noted that party general secretary Rahul Gandhi has reviewed the party debacle in UP and hinted on the organisational strengthen in the state. He had said that party is now focussing on 2014 election and for this review in such a state is necessary.
