New Delhi, Thu, 26 Apr 2012 NI Wire

The penultimate over again proved to be the game changing as Ambati Rayudu and Robin Petersen of Mumbai Indians hit Piyush Chawla for 27 runs.

Mumbai Indians needed 32 runs in the last two over and it was looking that Kings XI Punjab will defeat them in its home ground but it was not meant to be. Petersen hit 2 fours and a six before taking a single and then Rayudu hit Chawla for two consecutive sixes.

Kings XI decided to bat first after wining the toss and put a strong total of 168 on board which was quite defendable. While chasing Tendulkar and Franklin gave MI a steady start before Azhar Mahmood dismissed the two. Rohit Sharma then did the damage recovery and made a half-century and was taking MI towards a win. But Awana brought KXIP back in the game by taking two wickets of Rohit and Harbhajan in the 18th over leaving 32 in the last two overs.

Awana took 3 wickets and Mahmood 2 from Punjab side but it was not enough to gain them the victory.

In the 33rd match played between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians in the PCA stadium of Mohali, MI defeated KXIP by 4 wickets.
