Now Army Chief unveils another scam; asks CBI probe against serving Lt. Gen.

After exposing the alleged bribery offer of Rs.14-crore, Army Chief General V K Singh on Wednesday has dropped another corruption bomb of 'procurement scam' in Special Frontier Force (SFF) and asked a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) probe against serving Lt. General Dalbir Singh Suhag with the tune of this case.

According to a national daily 'The Indian Express' that published this news has said that General Singh has now forwarded a letter to CBI that was written to Defence Minister A K Antony in May 2011 by Trinamool Congress MP Ambika Banerjee, calling for a probe against Lt. General Dalbir Singh for his alleged pay-offs for the purchase of night-vision devices, communication systems, weapons as well as parachutes in SFF when he was its Inspector General.

In his letter, Ambika informed to Defence Minister regarding ongoing corruption in the Army. Besides Dalbir Singh, Ambika has also named to a former Army Chief and some agents who were indulged in this scam.

SFF is under the administrative control of the Research & Analysis Wing (RAW).

Lt General Dalbir Singh is at present third in line to be Army Chief after Lt. General Bikram Singh - to General V K Singh, and currently commands the Dimapur-based 3 Corps.

Earlier, General V K Singh on Monday revealed that retired Lt. General Tejinder Singh had offered him a bribe of Rs. 14-crore for sanctioning to purchase 600 substandard vehicles and asked a CBI probe against him.

The consecutively two scam exposed by Army Chief has rocked the government and also have mounted pressure to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in this matter.

According to sources, Prime Minister, Defence Minister and UPA Chairperson are following the 'wait and watch' formula and are likely to response after watching the reactions from all sides. It is also possible that General Singh may be asked to go for leave till he retires.
