Government of Ireland has decided to make a decision on country's abortion laws by the end of the year following the death of Indian dentist Savital Halappanavar.
Savital died in University Hospital, Galway on 28 October after suffering a miscarriage because the law in Ireland does not allow abortion and hence there was lack of clarity about when doctors in the country can terminate a pregnancy.
Her widower, Praveen Halappanavar then demanded a public enquiry on the matter and claimed that she was denied an abortion.
Irish Government then set up an expert panel to look at the issue.
On Tuesday, the government published its report that favors legislation and regulation as the best options to follow, the BBC reports.
Health Minister Dr James Reilly said,"Fine Gael Labour coalition government would make its decision on what to do by the end of the year".
European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg had criticized the legislation of Ireland for the Protection of the Unborn Child.
