Manmohan Singh to visit Japan and Cambodia

New Delhi, Nov. 2 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, will pay official visits to Japan and Cambodia from 15 to 20 November to further deepen cooperation with the two nations.

Dr. Singh, who will be accompanied by his wife Gursharan Kaur, will be in Tokyo from November 15 to 18 at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihiko Noda.

During the visit, the two Prime Ministers will discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of common interest.

The Prime Minister and his wife will be received in audience by the Emperor and Empress of Japan.

Dr. Singh will have meetings with other Japanese leaders and also meet Japanese and Indian business leaders during the visit. The Annual Summit of the Prime Ministers will further enhance and strengthen the Strategic and Global Partnership between India and Japan.

On the second leg of his tour, Dr. Singh will visit Phnom Penh, Cambodia on November 18-20 to attend the 10th ASEAN-India Summit and 7th East Asia Summit.

ASEAN and India are marking 20 years of their dialogue partnership and 10 years of annual Summit-level partnership this year. The 10th ASEAN-India Summit will review our relations since the last Summit in Bali, Indonesia in 2011. The leaders will also discuss the Special ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit, which India will host on December 20-21, 2012 in New Delhi.

The leaders will receive the Report of the ASEAN-India Eminent Persons Group, which had been set up last year to give recommendations on the future direction of the ASEAN-India partnership.

At the 7th East Asia Summit, Prime Minister would join Leaders from the other 17 EAS members for a leaders-led exchange of views on issues and concerns with regional and global impact.

The Prime Minister will also have bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the two Summits in Phnom Penh. (ANI)
