After years of struggle in court, 5 terrorists have finally been extradited to United States from UK where they will face prosecution in U.S. courts on terrorism charges.
2 high court judges rejected their plea of delaying their extradition. Two aircrafts carried the five suspects to America.
5 men that have been extradited are: Abu Hamza al-Masri, Babar Ahmad, Syed Talha Ahsan, Adel Abdul Bary and Khaled al-Fawwaz.
U.S. Embassy said in a statement, "These individuals are being transferred to the United States. These extraditions mark the end of a lengthy process of litigation through the UK courts and the European Court of Human Rights ECHR."
Egyptian-born Abu Hamza faces 11 charges in the US relating to hostage taking, supporting Al Qaeda, aiding a kidnapping in Yemen and conspiracy to establish a militant training camp in Afghanistan.
He has been in prison in Britain for 8 years after being convicted of inciting hatred.
Babar Ahmad (38) has been in prison without trial since 2004. Ahsan (32) has been in jail since 2006. Both Ahmad and Ahsan are accused of operating websites supporting Chechen and Afghan insurgents.
Fawwaz (50) and Bary (52) have been in jail since 1999. They were indicted by the US for alleged involvement in the bombing of two US embassies in east Africa in 1998 which killed hundreds. They also allegedly ran Al-Qaeda's media office in London in the 1990s.
