Pune, Oct 4 (IANS) Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd announced here Thursday the launch of its much-anticipated high-end SUV, SsangYong Rexton, in the country Oct 17.
The launch will take place in Mumbai, followed by New Delhi, Bangalore and other major cities in a phased manner, a company official said.
Rexton is the first high-end SUV under SsangYong banner to be manufactured at the M&M Ltd. production facility in Chakan, near Pune.
According to M&M Ltd., automotive & farm equipment sectors president and chairman SsangYong Motors Pawan Goenka, Rexton is the first product from SsangYong product portfolio to be unveiled in India after M&M Ltd. acquired the Korean company in March last year.
"The third-generation, high-end Rexton has carved out its own niche in 66 countries around the world, including Europe, Russia and Korea," Goenka said.
Goenka expressed confidence that Rexton will create a strong connect with premium SUV buyers in India owing to its sophisticated styling, luxurious interiors, superior handling and on and off-road performance.
He said the Indian buyers can also look forward to a high-performance diesel engine powering the Rexton with a combination of sophistication and refinement, and luxurious passenger comforts.
Goenka said that with the launch of the much-acclaimed XUV/500 last year, M&M Ltd. help the group stamp its presence in the premium SUVs segment.
"With the launch of the SsangYong Rexton, we hope to further expand the Mahindra presence in the high-end SUV segment," Goenka added.
