Dharamsala, Sept 29 (ANI): Tibetan exiles from across the world met here recently to discuss the spate of self-immolations by Tibetan monks, and passed recommendations to highlight the plight of compatriots living inside Tibet to lobby global support for their cause.
Tibet's Prime Minister-in-exile of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), Lobsang Sangay, also expressed his concern over the surge in the number of self-immolations.
President of Tibetan Youth Congress, Tsewang Rigzin urged the Tibetan community to be more involved into the struggle and to take part in the campaigns that are being organised for the cause.
"In the afternoon session, we passed final recommendations to highlight the situation inside Tibet. What we have come out of the discussions in four days is that we need to do more to get to pass international fact finding delegation inside Tibet to see the real situation," Rigzin said.
The surge in self-immolations in China to protest over its rule in Tibet has heightened tension in recent months.
Rigzin said their community has to lobby for concrete international support for their cause.
"Also considering the situation inside Tibet under Chinese occupation, we have forced resettlement of nomads, deprivation of basic fundamental rights to the Tibetan people. The situation is getting really critical. We talked about organising more campaigns to highlight the situation, to lobby for even more concrete international support," he added. (ANI)
