Outrage over trade union's t-shirts rejoicing over moment Thatcher dies

London, Tue, 11 Sep 2012 ANI

London, Sept 11 (ANI): Commemorative T-shirts celebrating the moment when former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher dies are being sold at the annual trades union gathering in the UK.

The T-shirts, on sale at the Trades Union Congress's (TUC) annual conference, boast that union members will want to 'dance on her grave' when she dies.

The Derbyshire Unemployed Workers Centre, an organisation that provides 'welfare rights advice services' and which is affiliated to the TUC, is marketing the T-shirts.

One of the T-shirts, which cost 10 pounds each, has an image of Thatcher's spitting image puppet, with the words "Hey ho the witch is dead" along side, The Telegraph reports.

A message on the T-shirt packer urges users to wear when Lady Thatcher has died.

"In the event of Thatcher's death of Thatcher open bag and wear Tee shirt immediately," the message says.

Another T-shirt features a white cross on a grave with "Thatcher" written across it.

According to the paper, some Conservative MPs have criticised the T-shirts as tasteless.

"I am appalled. This is typical of the TUC attacking those who have successfully fought for jobs and the creation of economic prosperity in Great Britain. With a declining membership this is a desperate and disrespectful act by the TUC," said MP Priti Patel.

"These sickening sentiments speak to something disordered in the human condition," said Tory MP Conor Burns.

"It shows an ugly side to the hard left who cannot move on from their utter defeat at the hands of this remarkable, but now frail, lady," he added. (ANI)
