Microsoft fixes bug in Windows Phone App store

London, Sat, 18 Aug 2012 ANI

London, Aug 18 (ANI): Software giant Microsoft has announced that it has fixed a bug that was affecting its Windows Phone store and stopped people from installing various apps.

The fault was picked up by British technology site TechRadar earlier this week.

Microsoft temporarily stopped new apps from being entered into the store while it investigated the bug, the Telegraph reports.

According to Todd Brix, writing on the Windows Phone Developer blog, the problem was occurring on older handsets, which had not been upgraded to Windows Phone 7.5.

These handsets, with an older operating system, did not have the correct digital certificate permitting them to download apps which had just been added to the Windows Phone store.

"It will take a day or two for the repair to fully deploy and newly-published apps to begin appearing in Marketplace again... If your app was in the process of being published, you don't need to take any action," Brix wrote.

"We have applied the fix and the app will continue through the certification and publishing workflow as normal," he added. (ANI)
