Budding scientists participate in Nagaland science meet

Dimapur (Nagaland), June 8 (ANI): A two-day science exhibition to provide a platform to budding scientists to showcase their talent was organized here.

Students from 18 schools across Nagaland and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, participated in the event, that was privately organized in collaboration with IIT, Guwahati.

Budding scientists from the region showcased their talent, and hundreds gathered to see their innovative designs like computer-controlled robots, battery powered bicycle, solar-water heater made from a painted water bottle and much more.

The participants believe that students should innovate and continuously explore the abilities of their mind.

"My parents and teachers encourage me a lot to take up such new projects, because it help us to get new ideas, knowledge and experience," Talufi Defoe, a participant, said.

Talufi had devised a hydraulic robot that helps in moving heavy objects.

The participants said such events provide good platform to students.

"Every student has different ideas with different concept, so it is good that we all have come together here at a single platform. This exhibition has been really good because it give students a chance to promote ideas," Singmichon, a participant, said.

The main purpose of the exhibition was to keep the people abreast of the developments in science and technology.

"The main purpose of organizing such event is to bring awareness of science and technology in the region. We would like our students to interact with the outside world to know more about science," Bishwajit, one of the organisers said.

The government is promoting education in the northeast to harness the human resource potential of the region. (ANI)
