Bangkok, June 2 (IANS) Myanmar and China will become even better friends as the Southeast Asian country deepens its political and economic reforms, leader of Myanmar's opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) party Aung San Suu Kyi said here Friday.
"I think there is greater and greater possibility of friendship between our people, especially between the young people," she told Xinhua at the World Economic Forum on East Asia.
Openness brought by reforms will further improve the relationship between the two countries, she said.
"Myanmar is a democratic parliamentary country. We are very good friends with China. I really don't see why we cannot continue to be good friends," she added.
Aung San Suu Kyi, also a parliament member, is on her first overseas visit in 24 years.
