DA case: CBI to continue questioning Jagan Reddy today

Hyderabad, Sun, 27 May 2012 ANI

Hyderabad, May 27 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will continue grilling YSR Congress Party leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy for the third consecutive day on Sunday in connection with an ongoing probe into a disproportionate assets case filed against him.

The CBI had questioned Jagan on Friday and Saturday as well.

After Saturday's questioning, Jagan said that the 'Q and A' session of the investigating agency went off 'peacefully'.

"Things went off peacefully, they sought for clarification and I have given them the clarifications. Tomorrow (on Sunday), I believe they will again ask for some more clarifications for which I will be giving them some more clarifications," he added.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court and a CBI court have also struck down his petition seeking exemption from personal appearance before the investigating agency.

Jagan's anticipatory bail petition was also kept aside by the CBI Court. The court had asked the CBI to file a fresh counter affidavit against Reddy.

Anticipating unrest, local police has issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), banning assembly of five or more persons. Security has been stepped up across the city and its entry and exit points. The order came into effect from 6 a.m. on Thursday and will be enforced till May 29, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said.

Reddy has alleged that the Congress, the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the CBI have framed him.

In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he had claimed that a conspiracy was conceived to trigger riots after his arrest and place the blame on him.

Jagan is accused of conspiring with his father to dole out favours to companies that invested in his businesses in a quid pro quo arrangement. (ANI)
