London, May 26(ANI): McLaren ace driver Jensen Button has said any team that solves Pirelli's new tyre design conundrum first would be in pole position to win the Formula One championship this season.
Button admits his hopes of winning the Monaco Grand Prix depends on not on his own mercurial talent as a racer, but with back-room boffins the world may never see.arious teams are attempting to unlock the secrets of Pirelli's new tyre design, but not getting very far. There have been five different winners in five races for the first time since 1983, but no one understands why they won or how to do it again.
Button admitted the growing fear in the paddock is that if one team cracks the mystery they will be off on a string of wins that will provide an uncatchable foundation for title glory.
"There is that worry that someone will hit the nail on the head and start pulling away. We just have to keep trying to find it," The Daily Mirror quoted Button, as saying.
"Everyone is in the same position so we have to hope we're cleverer than the rest of the people in the pit lane. I don't know if we are, but we will find out soon," he added.
He said: "If you can work out where the tyres are quicker than everyone else you've a great chance."
After winning the opening round, Button admitted McLaren don't know why their car was so good in Melbourne and hasn't performed well since then. (ANI)
