London, May 3 (ANI): The News Corporation's board of directors have announced its full confidence in Rupert Murdoch's 'fitness' and has vowed to support him to continue 'leading the media firm as its chairman and CEO'.
"The board of directors of News Corporation met today and announced its full confidence in Rupert Murdoch's fitness and support for his continuing to lead News Corporation into the future as its chairman and CEO," News Corp. said in a statement.
"The board based its vote of confidence on Rupert Murdoch's vision and leadership in building News Corporation, his ongoing performance as chairman and CEO, and his demonstrated resolve to address the mistakes of the company identified in the select committee's report," it added.
According to The Telegraph, the directors' vote of confidence in the media mogul came after he called an 'unfit person' to lead News Corporation in a report by a committee of MPs.
The report into allegations of phone-hacking at News of The World, released the Commons media committee, said Murdoch showed 'wilful blindness' to the extent of phone-hacking at the now defunct tabloid.
News Corp had admitted that it was 'too slow' to respond to the crisis, but insisted that it had 'acted on' the failings identified in the report. (ANI)
