Islamabad, May 3 (ANI): Pakistan Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar has said that the Pakistan Government and the armed forces played a vital role in hunting down former Al- Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden through a mobile phone chip.

Mukhtar claimed that it was Pakistan's armed forces that had weakened the Al-Qaeda's terrorist network.

He revealed that Bin Laden was hunted down through a mobile phone chip, which was found 'fortuitously', reports The Dawn.

Mukhtar also revealed that Pakistan was bound by a contract with the U.S. to hand over all Arabic and English data found during the search for Bin Laden. Similarly, the U.S. was to provide all Urdu data to Pakistan for intelligence sharing purposes.

Mukhtar also said the armed forces are currently looking into material recovered from the compound in Abbottabad, where Bin Laden was captured and eventually killed by U.S. forces. (ANI)
