Songadh (Gujarat), May 3 (ANI): Residents of Songadh, Gujarat, are bearing the brunt of administration's apathy, as they continue to complain about facing acute water shortage with the onset of summer.
Pankaj Gamit said that there was need to construct more wells in the region since the hand pumps are of no use in the hilly area.
"There are many hand pumps in the region but we still do not get water, as this is a hilly area. There is a need to have more wells in the region and there should be at least four to five wells. We have to travel with our cattle for four to five kilometres to get water. There is no water pipeline in the region," said Gamit.
Villagers are forced to travel to far-flung areas to fetch water from distant villages.
Raju Vasava said that their problems would be aggravated if the present situation continued to persist.
"There is acute shortage of water in our region. We have to travel to other villagers for water. There is no water for people or cattle and if there is a marriage then there is a big problem," said Vasava
According to media reports, the administration has decided to take adequate steps to address the woes of the people. (ANI)
