Kidnapped British aid worker's beheaded body found in Pakistan

Lahore , Mon, 30 Apr 2012 ANI

Lahore, Apr 30(ANI): The decapitated body of a British aid worker has been found in Pakistan, three months after he was kidnapped.

Khalil Dale, 60, was working for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Quetta, when he was abducted on January 5.

Local officials said his bullet-riddled body was found on a road outside the city in a bag addressed to the police chief.

A note said he had been killed because ransom had not been paid.

ICRC Director-General Yves Daccord condemned the killing.

"All of us at the ICRC and at the British Red Cross share the grief and outrage of Khalil's family and friends. We are devastated. Khalil was a trusted and very experienced Red Cross staff member who significantly contributed to the humanitarian cause," The Telegraph quoted Daccord, as saying.

UK Foreign Secretary William Hague said his thoughts were with Dale's family.

"I utterly condemn the kidnapping and killing of Mr Dale, and send my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones as they come to terms with their tragic and distressing loss," he said.

Dale, who hailed from Manchester and converted to Islam 30 years ago, was abducted by unidentified armed men, while returning home from work on January 5. (ANI)
