Jaipur, April 30 (IANS) In a major reshuffle in the state police organisation, the Rajasthan government Monday transferred 26 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, 14 of them for the second time within eight days, officials said.
This was the second major reshuffle in the state police force within just eight days. Earlier, 48 IPS officers were transferred and reshuffled April 21.
Of the 26 officers who were moved around Monday, 14 were transferred in the reshuffle just eight days ago April 21.
The state government also reshuffled 15 Superintendents of Police (SP)-rank officers Monday.
Sources said that Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had to come out with the second transfer list within eight days due to political pressures.
"Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways C.P. Joshi and union Minister of State for Home Bhanwar Jitendra Singh were unhappy with the transfer list issued April 21. They were objecting to the transfers of some IPS officers," a senior Congress party leader told IANS, requesting anonymity.
He added that due to the objections by these senior Congress leaders in the state, Gehlot had to stall the transfer of some IPS officers.
"These eight IPS officers had been asked not to join the new places immediately after the reshuffle April 21," said the Congress leader.
